The Chautauqua Complex is made up of three different connected areas- Chautauqua Park, the Community Orchard, and the Eastman Wetland. People flock to Chautauqua Park to enjoy its majestic trees, numerous playgrounds and picnic areas that have formed the backdrop of countless memories, from the couple looking for a place to share their morning stroll, the group of friends playing a leisurely game of disc golf, or the kids enjoying their favorite pastime – swinging away on the playground! Whether you’re looking for a spot to enjoy a family picnic, or play a nice round of disc-golf, Chautauqua Park is a refreshing place to unplug. The Fairfield Loop Trail connects into the park, giving you access to vast expanses of hiking opportunities and also connects you to the Community Orchard. The Orchard was founded in 2012 with the support of Alliant Energy’s Hometown Rewards Program. You can find American Persimmon, Chestnut, Mulberry, Asian and European Pears and multiple varieties of Apples within the Orchard. During harvest season, the fruit is available for anyone to pick. Past the Community Orchard is the Eastman Wetland, which lies within the floodplain of Cedar Creek. This 24-acre mitigation site has a 5-acre restored wetland. Once farmed, the site is now home to an abundant amount of wildlife including many mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, crayfish, mussels, and insects that rely on the wetlands as feeding grounds, nesting habitats, spawning grounds, travel corridors and more. The Chautauqua Complex has it all!
