Jefferson County Conservation
Jefferson County Conservation is located in southeast Iowa and currently manages 11 parks, natural areas and trails which encompass some 1,361 acres across the county. The Conservation Office and Nature Center are located in Jefferson County Park.
The mission of the Jefferson County Conservation is to enhance the quality of life in Jefferson County by acquiring, developing and managing public areas so that its citizens will have opportunities for quality outdoor recreation experiences, and to cultivate good land stewardship through natural history and environmental education activities.
The support we receive from our community allows us to offer variety in our programs and facilities. Jefferson County Conservation respectfully accepts and honors memorial donations and bequests. We also accept donations to specific programs, events and projects.
The Jefferson County Conservation Board oversees all aspects of the parks and programs. Five board members are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors to five-year, staggered terms. The Conservation Board meets monthly, generally on the last Wednesday of every month at 4:00pm at the Jefferson County Park Nature Center.
The Conservation Foundation of Jefferson County, Iowa is a 501c3 on a mission to enhance and restore the natural areas of Jefferson County. Their purpose is to fund the efforts of the Jefferson County Conservation Board while they enhance and defend our natural resources for the benefit of our current and future citizens.
